India’s environmental issues deeply impact its social, cultural, and economic growth. Urban India grapples with air pollution, water scarcity, and waste management, while rural regions face agrarian distress and the mounting effects of climate change. To address these challenges and strike a balance between development and sustainability, Pragati Through Prakriti (P2P) was launched—an initiative focused on conserving natural resources and promoting resilient ecosystems.
The program emphasizes sustainable agricultural practices and drives research-based, context-specific interventions across rural, urban, and semi-urban areas. With a vision to create a greener, more self-reliant India, P2P strives to reach and impact over 1.3 billion people through awareness, action, and collaboration.
Our mission aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action). SDG 14 (Life Below Water), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the goals).
P2P advances SDG 3 by promoting menstrual hygiene and safe waste disposal, ensuring healthier lives and well-being. It supports SDG 6 through education on waste management, contributing to cleaner water and improved sanitation. In alignment with SDG 11, P2P fosters sustainable communities through initiatives like cloth reuse, plastic reduction, and eco-friendly practices. Supporting SDG 12, it drives responsible consumption through awareness on reducing, reusing, and recycling. P2P also addresses SDG 13 by organizing plantation drives and climate action campaigns. Through efforts aligned with SDG 14 and SDG 15, the program protects aquatic ecosystems and restores biodiversity via reduced plastic use, afforestation, and eco-conscious agriculture. Finally, P2P strengthens SDG 17 by building partnerships with NGOs, schools, local governments, and community stakeholders to amplify environmental impact.
Goals
Pragati Through Prakriti aims to empower communities to cultivate environmental stewardship, especially youth and students. Promotion of sustainable lifestyle choices through awareness and education. Reduction on ecological footprints by encouraging practices like afforestation, reuse, and waste segregation. Additionally, collaboration with like-minded organizations and institutions for collective impact.
Objectives :
• Capacity Building: Equip youth, women, and community members with knowledge and tools to adopt eco-conscious living and influence others.
• Collaboration and Community Participation: Build partnerships with schools, government bodies, civil society organizations, and local communities to expand outreach and effectiveness.
• Inclusivity and Sustainability: Address the intersection of environment and health, especially through menstrual hygiene initiatives and waste management solutions in underserved areas.
