The Success Story of the Namsai Sfurti Cluster
Where did it all begin?
For many years, traditional farmers of Ajmer have been producing millet and selling it in local markets through various mediators. But unfortunately, their products could not command a fair market price, and the mediators largely consumed any slim margins that did exist. All of these problems will disappear with the implementation of the Millet Processing and Value Addition Cluster at Ajmer. hanker Singh Rawat of Gramin Mahila Vikas Sansthan(GMVS), Kishangarh, Ajmer, is very proud to say: They have achieved this success with the help of 800+ local farmers who have formed the Khaira Kisan Samruddhi Farmer Producer Organization, which will now specialise in making modern, health-conscious, gluten-free, zinc-fortified products like:
Our farmers in the GOI sponsored Common Facility Centre – CFC in Kishangargh Ajmer will create these products and carry a premium value to the market. As a result, the farmers involved in the project will get benefits directly, with a 75- 125% estimated increase in overall income. In addition, the Cluster will share profit with cluster beneficiaries.
As a result, the Cluster profitability will rise to many folds in the coming months with the joint efforts of Nodal Agency: PPDC Agra, with hand-holding and capacity building by Technical Agency: Nisarg Agripreneurship Foundation, Bhopal, and Implementing Agency: Gramin Mahila Vikas Sansthan(GMVS), Supported by the Ministry of MSME under SFURTI scheme.
The cluster is now operational, as the millet cluster increased its popularity among the farmer community, more and more farmers are now connecting with the cluster for a better and sustainable livelihood solution.
We are so thankful for all those who joined us in this task of breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering people to overcome it. Honestly, together we are creating a story of change.
